This book contains more than 550 Philippine Hokkien nouns arranged by topics. Some words from Mainland Chinese Hokkien and Taiwanese Hokkien have been added to help familiarize the readers with the variants used in other regional Hokkien dialects. There are 37 topics in this book.

The aim is to help learners build on an introductory foundation to Hokkien. Through topics, vocabulary will be made easily accessible to those interested in Philippine Hokkien. The lists are loosely based on the Swadesh list, the Your First 625 by Fluent Forever, and the old HSK 1 & 2.

Rather than being written according to the Pe ̍ h-ōejī (POJ) or Tâi-lô romanization styles common in other places, the terms in the book are written according to the Lannang Orthography (LO) style. This was developed by The Lannang Archives in order to demonstrate the unique features of a Philippine Hokkien dialect that has been mostly influenced by the Jinjiang dialect and gone through localization in the Philippines.
