The Lannang Archives (TLA) is a nonprofit organization created to conserve Lannang heritage, with particular emphasis on languages. TLA comprises professionals and scholars who are interested in language, cultural hybridity, heritage, and documentation (e.g. preservation, revitalization) from a Lannang perspective.
Although the website is Lannang oriented, it also fosters the exploration of a variety of cultures. We are looking for pieces that explore the topics/themes of language, cultural hybridity, heritage, and identity. We strongly encourage Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) writers, speakers with English as their second language, bilingual writers, and other underrepresented voices to submit.
You can submit a piece of writing in the following categories:
Fiction (min. 1000 words)
Flash fiction (max. 1000 words)
Poetry (max. of 5 poems)
Creative nonfiction (memoir, personal essays with a max. of 3000 words)
We accept unpublished works but will also consider previously published works. Simultaneous submissions are allowed.
The submitted DOCX or PDF file should be named using the following format: SURNAME_TYPEOFWORK_TITLE. The subject line should include your name and the type of literature you are submitting.
To submit, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
If we choose to publish your work, we will send you an email regarding the availability of it for publishing and ask for a brief bio. Please include a brief outline of your cultural background in the bio.
We usually reply within 2 weeks.
